GIZ Proklima Cool Training for Technicians and Trainers Scheduled for September 2026 in Germany
GIZ Proklima will run its Cool Training for trainers and technicians from 14 to 25 September 2026 at the Bundesfachschule Kälte-Klima-Technik (BFS) in Maintal, Germany, offering a ten-day hands-on course focused on the safe application of natural refrigerants in refrigeration and cooling systems.
The programme is structured around a 70/30 split between practical exercises and theory, hosted at BFS, a German vocational training centre with more than 50 years of refrigeration education experience. An excursion to a facility operating an ammonia refrigeration system is included.
The curriculum covers the application of propane (R290) and CO2 (R744), safety and environmental requirements in line with international standards, refrigerant recovery, pipe joining and installation methods, and leak detection and tightness testing. The track is designed for working technicians and trainers who need practical competence in natural refrigerant systems they can apply directly on the job.
The course fee is €2,400 net, payable to BFS, and covers course materials, lunches on training days, the company visit, and transport between the hotel and the training site. Accommodation and travel are not included and must be arranged independently or covered by a sponsoring organisation. The course is conducted in English. Registration is open now; interested participants should contact GIZ Proklima at cool.training@giz.de.
