Chemours has published its 2025 Sustainability Report, reporting reductions in greenhouse gas and fluorinated organic chemical (FOC) emissions while expanding the role of low-global-warming-potential (GWP) refrigerants and liquid cooling technologies in its sustainability strategy. The company reported an 80% reduction in air and water FOC process emissions and a 57% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions since 2018.
Chemours said its absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions declined 30% from the 2018 baseline, due in large part to increased adoption of Opteon™ low-GWP refrigerants. In 2025, Opteon™ sales helped avoid more than 80 million metric tons of CO2e emissions by replacing high-GWP refrigerants, while the company’s low-GWP products had delivered more than 350 million tons of avoided global CO2e emissions by year-end 2025.
For data centers, Chemours highlighted two-phase direct-to-chip (DTC) and two-phase immersion cooling. According to the report, two-phase DTC cooling can reduce cooling energy consumption by 25% to 35% compared with traditional air-cooled systems and achieve near-zero water use through closed-loop, non-evaporative operation. Third-party testing of R-515B delivered heat fluxes exceeding 500 W/cm² (approx. 3,226 W/in²).
Chemours also reported that its two-phase immersion cooling technology can lower energy consumption by up to 40%, reduce cooling energy use by up to 90% and nearly eliminate cooling-related water use. Samsung Electronics qualified Chemours’ two-phase immersion cooling fluid with its generation four Solid State Drive, while a separate 12-month test conducted with NTT DATA and Hibiya Engineering found no signs of fluid or equipment degradation.
