Best Food Logistics Invests in Engineless Technology for Sustainable Fleet

Best Food Logistics has announced a significant investment in 286 Carrier Transicold systems to enhance the sustainability of its fleet of temperature-controlled commercial vehicles. This includes Eco-Drive-mounted tractors and trucks equipped with Syberia and Iceland units, known for their efficiency and quiet operation. Carrier Transicold, part of Carrier Global Corporation, is recognized for its intelligent climate and energy solutions.

The order comprises 53 Eco-Drive-equipped Renault T tractors coupled with 63 trailers outfitted with Carrier Transicold Vector HE 19 multi-temperature units. Additionally, 108 Syberia 18i Twincool and five Iceland 18 Twincool-equipped DAF XD 26-ton trucks, alongside 57 DAF XBs mounted with Syberia 11i MT systems, will join the fleet in 2025.

Steve Pitts, Head of Operations at Best Food Logistics, highlighted Carrier's expertise in electric and engineless solutions, noting the combination of competitive pricing, reliability, and excellent aftersales support. This technology shift is vital as Best Food Logistics moves away from diesel-dependent refrigeration.

The Eco-Drive technology from Carrier's Transform Line is central to this transition. It connects to truck engines, providing full refrigeration capacity independent of engine speed. This also reduces emissions and noise by eliminating standalone diesel engines.

Carrier's E-Drive technology enhances the Vector HE 19 MT units with features that support electrical operation on the road, further decreasing costs and improving sustainability for Best Food Logistics.

Tony Biggs, National Sales Manager at Carrier Transicold UK, expressed pride in supporting Best Food Logistics' move towards a sustainable future with Eco-Drive technology.

All new units will be maintained under comprehensive BluEdge service packages, ensuring reliability and regulatory compliance.
