Carrier Transicold Supra 850 MT Chosen for Iceotemp’s First Ever 18-Tonne Reefer

Carrier Transicold Supra 850 MT Chosen for Iceotemp’s First Ever 18-Tonne Reefer

Temperature-controlled distribution specialist, Iceotemp, has grown its fleet with the addition of its largest vehicle to date – an 18-tonne rigid mounted with a Carrier Transicold Supra 850 multi-temperature (MT) unit. The new truck will boost fleet efficiency and sustainability, taking on work previously completed by smaller vehicles.

The Supra 850 MT is fitted to a Gray & Adams rigid body on a Renault chassis and is a new addition to Iceotemp’s 21-strong refrigerated transport fleet. It will complete deliveries from the company’s Rooksbridge depot in Somerset to customers in the London area.

“This is the first time we’ve specified a truck of this size.We used to rely on several vans to make multiple deliveries to the London area, but we can now consolidate some of those journeys into one,” said Paul Gould, commercial director, Iceotemp. “Carrier Transicold is the best in the business for this sort of application, which is key for the variety of goods we transport and because the truck will be clocking more than 100,000 miles a year.

The powerful Supra 850 MT provides constant airflow, independent of engine speed, which means rapid pull-down and accurate multi-temperature set point control, allowing Iceotemp to transport a wide range of chilled and frozen food, as well as specialist goods including pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.Iceotemp’s commercial vehicle fleet is on the road seven days a week, making deliveries to customers throughout the UK.

“We’ve seen the benefits of operating a larger truck with the Supra’s multi-temp capabilities, and we will be looking to introduce similar Carrier-cooled vehicles into our fleet for our delivery routes to the Midlands and North,” Gould added.

Iceotemp expects to operate the vehicle on its fleet for six years, with the new Supra unit backed by the comprehensive everCOLD fixed cost full-service maintenance package, including annual temperature control testing and certification, full regulatory checks, and access to Carrier Transicold’s oneCALL 24/7 incident management service.

Established in 2007, Iceotemp operates 24 hours a day providing its customers with a flexible, economical collection and delivery service for a range of temperature-controlled products, all backed by an ISO 9001 accredited business management system.
