PDQ Specialist Couriers has expanded its temperature-controlled fleet with four new 3.5-tonne vehicles equipped with Carrier Transicold Pulsor 400 Multi-Temperature (MT) units, reinforcing its pharmaceutical logistics operations across the UK and Europe.
The latest additions include two insulated Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans and two chassis cabs with temperature-controlled box bodies. These vehicles replace older units and will operate from PDQ’s headquarters in Bromborough, Cheshire. The Pulsor 400 MT systems are designed for pharmaceutical and clinical trial deliveries, offering rapid temperature pull-down and full refrigeration capacity at low engine speeds, aided by Carrier’s E-Drive technology.
Each system can simultaneously heat and cool multiple compartments and maintains consistent set points between minus 25°C and 30°C. The equipment performs reliably in external temperatures ranging from minus 25°C to 50°C.
“Carrier’s products never let us down,” said Zoe Lane, General Manager, PDQ Specialist Couriers. “The technology in the Pulsor unit ensures the vital pharmaceutical cargo we transport is always kept at the precise temperatures required, no matter the delivery routes or external conditions.”
The new units are supported by a BluEdge full-service maintenance package, which includes annual temperature control testing and certification in line with GDP requirements, regulatory checks, and access to Carrier’s oneCALL 24/7 incident management service.
PDQ has also taken delivery of two Mercedes-Benz Citan vans fitted with Xarios 200 refrigeration systems. These feature slim, lightweight evaporators designed to maximize load space and reduce maintenance time.
Each vehicle is expected to cover up to 100,000 miles per year on multi-drop routes throughout the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe. Founded in 1998, PDQ Specialist Couriers focuses on temperature-controlled deliveries for the pharmaceutical, hazardous material and scientific sectors.
