Carrier Transicold has received the 2025 Truck & Trailer Welt Award in the CoolChamp category for its latest Vector High Efficiency (HE) 19 trailer refrigeration unit, which uses a low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant to help reduce CO₂ emissions. The award highlights innovations that promote sustainability and performance in the transport sector.
The Vector HE 19 low CO₂ system combines a refrigerant with a GWP below 250 and compatibility with biodiesel fuels such as B100 and hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO). According to the company, this configuration allows operators to cut their carbon footprint by at least 73% per unit annually while maintaining the performance and reliability of conventional systems.
B100 biodiesel, which can be made from used vegetable oils, animal fats, or cooking oils, reduces emissions by 60–91%, depending on the source. The unit's compatibility with HVO also enables up to an 80% reduction in emissions compared to standard diesel-powered units.
The system includes advanced hardware, software and safety features such as leak detection and compliance with pressure equipment regulations. It is already in operation with customers.
“This award reflects our commitment to helping customers achieve meaningful sustainability gains without sacrificing performance,” said Jean-Michel Vadecard, Product Director for Truck Trailer International at Carrier Transicold.
