Constellation Cold Logistics announces opening of its 18,500-pallet expansion in Nijkerk

Constellation Cold Logistics (“Constellation”) announces the opening of its 18,500-pallet expansion project in Nijkerk, The Netherlands.

Construction was completed in December 2023, and the expansion is already filling up with product from existing and new customers. Constellation’s Nijkerk site now boasts over 65,000 pallet spaces of frozen storage capacity, as well as facilities for blast freezing, repacking and other value-added services.

A solar array has been installed on the roof of the site, in line with our sustainability goals to reduce carbon emissions and reach net zero. Solar generation is key to fulfilling our net zero ambitions, the new array adds to the investment in 6 MW of generating capacity made across the Constellation network in 2023.

Hendrik van Winkoop, (formerly owner of Vrieshuis Lagemaat which includes the Nijkerk site), said “We are excited to be able to offer additional space to our customers. There has been strong demand for us to expand and it is great to have Constellation’s support to invest to deliver the increased capacity to accommodate additional product flows.”

Carlos Rodriguez, Constellation’s CEO, said “Our Nijkerk expansion is yet another example demonstrating our ambition to deliver high-quality cold chain infrastructure throughout Europe and grow with our customers. The Constellation Nijkerk team is superb, not only delivering on the day-to-day work to support our customers but also growing the business, their level of flexibility and responsiveness is outstanding.”
