Constellation Cold Logistics has completed a major expansion of its frozen storage facility in Grimsby, United Kingdom, adding 37,000 pallet positions and increasing the site's total capacity to more than 52,000 pallet spaces.
The 130,000 sq. ft expansion at the Estate Road 2 site enhances support for the UK seafood sector and strengthens Grimsby’s role in the national food supply chain. The development was supported by the UK Seafood Infrastructure Scheme.
The facility includes fully frozen loading bays, mobile and static racking systems for flexible storage, a new energy-efficient refrigeration plant, and a solar PV installation. According to the company, the infrastructure reduces Scope 3 emissions by more than 50% compared to traditional facilities in the region.
In addition to increased capacity, the site offers value-added services such as freezing, tempering, case picking, quality control, and repacking. It is also integrated into Constellation’s European network, which includes over one million pallet positions across 38 sites in eight countries.
The Grimsby expansion is part of Constellation’s wider investment program in 2025. Projects underway include a fully automated cold store in Wolverhampton, a 32,000-pallet facility in Rollsbo/Kungälv, Sweden, and a 52,000-pallet site in Aarhus, Denmark.
“The Grimsby expansion is a tangible example of that vision in action – strengthening resilience in the UK cold chain while creating opportunities for customers to grow with confidence,” said Carlos Rodriguez, CEO of Constellation.
