Daikin announces its Pharma Solutions for light truck refrigeration units

Daikin Transport Refrigeration, a subsidiary of Daikin Industries Limited, a global leader, present in more than 150 countries, shaping the future of heating, cooling, ventilation and refrigeration systems, offers GDP compliant units for all inner-city and short distance pharma and medicines distribution in Europe.

Evren Akçora, Senior Manager, Transport Refrigeration Daikin Europe, said “Our Zanotti range of GDP compliant transport refrigeration units are the most comprehensive, meeting the diverse requirements for pharma and medicines distribution in inner cities. We are the only transport refrigeration technology provider that offers a range including under-chassis (Invisible), nose-mount (Zero and SFZ) and roof-mount (Zero), single and multi-temp GDP compliant direct-drive van and light truck units.”

With the current pandemic and critical vaccination distribution demands aside, there is increasing pressure on the safe and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical products and medicines to the population in our growing cities. Maintaining the efficient and safe distribution two to three times daily, to the approximately 900 and 700 pharmacies in Paris and Brussels respectively for example, is no small task.

The European Commission’s Good Distribution Practice Guidelines (GDP guidelines) of Medicinal Products for Human Use describes the minimum standards that a wholesale distributor must meet to ensure that the quality and integrity of medicines is maintained throughout the supply chain. As such, GDP compliance ensures that medicines in the supply chain are authorised in accordance with European Union legislation as regards storage and condition including precise temperature maintenance throughout transport.

The following units in the Zanotti range successfully passed Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) protocols including thermal mapping and real-life tests receiving GDP compliance from an independent certifying company:

  • The Invisible unit, SFZ2009 (single-temp) is a direct-drive GDP compliant unit installed beneath the chassis of the vehicle preserving the aesthetics, original height and aerodynamics while reducing bodywork.
  • Two direct-drive Zero units, both in nose-mount and roof-mount configurations, the Z250 and Z380 offering single and multi-temp solutions that provide excellent flexibility for light commercial vehicles thanks to its easy installation and serviceability as well as an ultra-thin evaporator installed in the cargo compartment to maximise cargo volume.
  • The SFZ238 nose-mounted unit is a robust direct-drive solution for the light truck range and a proven design optimized for energy efficiency, low noise, and easy-to-service transport of temperature-controlled goods in medium sized boxes.

Marco Napolitano, Product Manager, Transport Refrigeration Daikin Europe, said “Zanotti now offers GDP compliant units covering the broadest list of vehicle types and configurations for inner city and short to medium distance pharma distribution. We have a rich innovation pipeline that includes electric-driven GDP compliant refrigeration units, a full suite of telematics solutions, including specific pharma telematics solutions as well as product innovations addressing the future needs of our customers in lowering their total cost of ownership.”

The complete range of Zanotti GDP compliant solutions bring reliable and efficient options to the market, configured to customer needs, and supported with a service network available 24/7 – lowering the total cost of ownership in this critical market segment.

This announcement builds on the recent investments Daikin Transport Refrigeration has made, bolstering its portfolio and capacity especially in Belgium, France, Germany and The Netherlands and supports the company’s goal to provide flexible tailor-made solutions, including for pharma distribution.
