Denmark’s Dansk Cater expands electric cold chain with Carrier

Dansk Cater, a Danish foodservice wholesaler, plans to deploy more than 40 Syberia electric refrigeration units from Carrier Transicold by summer 2026. The units will be integrated across the company’s growing electric truck fleet as part of its strategy to reduce emissions while maintaining food distribution.

The company’s catering divisions in Denmark began using electric refrigerated transport in 2022 with their first fully electric refrigerated truck equipped with a Carrier Transicold Syberia unit. Dansk Cater said the technology has been suited to stop-and-go city distribution, based on internal operational data, supporting stable energy consumption, reduced noise levels and high vehicle availability.

Carrier Transicold said the Syberia units can support both single- and multi-temperature operation, offer rapid temperature pull-down capability and operate below 60 dB(A) in line with PIEK requirements. Dansk Cater said fixed routes and a focus on urban distribution have supported the gradual integration of electric vehicles into daily operations.

Close collaboration between Dansk Cater and Carrier Transicold supported the deployment, including early planning, route simulation and technical coordination before vehicles entered service. “Lower noise has made a noticeable difference for our drivers and for the local communities we serve,” said Allan Hvidberg, Transport Manager at AB Catering Aarhus, a division of Dansk Cater. “We have observed lower routine maintenance requirements and consistently high uptime, which are important for our daily operations.”
