Acquisition adds 24 sites and 420,000 pallet positions to company’s cold storage network in Brazil.
Emergent Cold Latin America has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Brazilian cold chain logistics provider Comfrio, excluding its food service unit. The deal, subject to regulatory approvals, strengthens Emergent Cold LatAm’s footprint in Brazil and supports long-term growth and synergy opportunities.
Comfrio, acquired by Aqua Capital in August 2023, operates 24 sites with approximately 420,000 pallet positions and over two million cubic meters of temperature-controlled storage capacity. With nearly 30 years of history, Comfrio is one of Brazil’s largest logistics operators in the refrigerated food sector.
“This transaction diversifies our overall business profile by adding domestic distribution to complement our existing export operations,” said Evandro Calanca, Managing Director of South Cone for Emergent Cold LatAm. “We are excited to welcome the Comfrio team to Emergent Cold LatAm.”
Following the acquisition, Emergent Cold LatAm will operate 38 facilities in Brazil, totaling around 2.9 million cubic meters (approx. 102.4 million ft³) of temperature-controlled storage. The expansion extends the company’s presence to 12 Brazilian states, including new operations in Minas Gerais and Ceará.
44 Capital Finanças Corporativas advised Emergent Cold LatAm on the transaction, with legal support from Bronstein, Zilberberg, Chueiri & Potenza Advogados and Lefosse Advogados. Comfrio was advised by Itaú BBA and represented by Candido Martins Cukier Advogados.
