European Transport Award for Sustainability 2024

ECOOLTEC wins EuropeanTransport Award for Sustainability

The trade magazine “Transport” has honoured the TM182 transport refrigeration machine from ECOOLTEC Grosskopf GmbH with the European Transport Award for Sustainability 2024 in the category "Refrigeration and Heating". The independent jury of experts rated the holistic approach and sustainability of the ECOOLTEC technology as outstanding. The combination of natural refrigerants for refrigeration and a purely electric drive is unique in road freight transport to date.

ECOOLTEC is a double award winner: With the European Transport Award for Sustainability 2024, the specialist for sustainable transport refrigeration systems has received its second award in a row for its revolutionary transport refrigeration system and its commitment to greater sustainability in temperature-controlled road freight transport. Now, the independent expert jury of the European Transport Award for Sustainability has honoured the unique and revolutionary technology in the heavy commercial vehicle segment.

KRONE wins sustainability award 2024

Trailer manufacturer KRONE has won the "European Transport Prize for Sustainability 2024" in the "Telematics and Automation" category. The "European Transport Prize for Sustainability", which has been established for over a decade, encourages companies in the commercial vehicle industry to act sustainably and supports their strategies in this area.

KRONE won this year's competition with its AI-based "KRONE Smart Capacity Management" loading space recognition system, which detects and utilises free loading capacity. The intelligent system enables optimum capacity utilisation, saves empty runs and thus protects the environment in the long term.

Schmitz Cargobull wins two sustainability awards

Schmitz Cargobull secures the coveted sustainability award from Huss-Verlag (Germany) for 2024 - in two categories. At the award ceremony on 30 November, Marnix Lannoije, Chief Technical Officer at Schmitz Cargobull, received the awards for the fully electric S.KOe COOL refrigerated semi-trailer in the ’Semi-trailer’ category and for the Full Service Retread Tyres contract in the ’Rental, Leasing, Financing, Service Contracts’ category.

With the fully electric S.KOe COOL, Schmitz Cargobull has designed a refrigerated semi-trailer that is an economical solution for emission-free and fuel-saving transport without compromising on payload.

The refrigerated trailer is equipped with the S.CU ep85 electric refrigeration unit, which delivers the same cooling capacity as a diesel-powered refrigeration unit. The electric generator axle recuperates energy above a certain speed and during braking, thus extending the operating time of the refrigeration machine and reducing the recharging times of the battery taking place on the power grid.

Thermo King AxlePower with BPW Epower axle wins European Transport Award for Sustainability 2024

Thermo King and BPW Bergische Achsen KG won in the “Components and Aggregates” category of the European Transport Award for Sustainability 2024. The jury recognized Thermo King and BPW for AxlePower, the smart energy generating system that stores energy generated from rolling or braking of the trailer in a high voltage battery and reuses it to power the refrigeration unit.

Thermo King AxlePower is a fully integrated, tractor independent system that combines BPW’s ePower axle with Thermo King refrigeration unit and power management technology. The AxlePower’s smart energy generating system delivers the power needed to run the trailer refrigeration unit by converting energy recovered by the trailer’s axle during the vehicle’s routine operation.
