GCCA Announces the 2023 Latin America Future Leader Award Recipient

The Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) is pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2023 Latin America Future Leader Award is Gonzalo García, Head of Projects and Solutions at Emergent Cold Latin America, Peru.

The GCCA Future Leader Award recognizes talented young professionals who have the potential to become cold chain leaders and make a positive contribution to the development of the global temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics industry. Applicants for the award were evaluated by a panel of industry leaders in the Latin America cold chain industry. The 2023 Judges included: José Carranza – Agroempaques, Peru, Dionisio Cos Malpica – Polart Port, México and José Luis Uribe – Red Polar, Colombia.

“I am extremely grateful and honored to have won the GCCA Latin America Future Leader 2023 award. Obtaining recognition of this magnitude from such an outstanding organization in the industry is a true privilege, which entails a lot of responsibility and reaffirms my commitment to continue strengthening, modernizing, and optimizing the cold chain in Latin America and the world”, stated Garcia. “I greatly appreciate your support and trust in my work, which is a reflection of the dedication of a great team behind it. Let’s continue developing a sustainable, technological, and efficient approach to minimize food waste and global impacts.”

This year, the three finalists were:

  • Gonzalo Mauricio Garcia, Head of Projects and Solutions, Emergent Cold Latin America, Peru
  • Antonio Lacombe Sigrist, M&A Associate, IceStar, Chile
  • Juan Afanador, Director of Business Development, Emergent Cold Latin America, México

The winner of the Latin America Future Leader Award will compete with other future leaders from across the world in the 2023 Global NextGen competition. This award will be held in person at the GCCA Convention in Scottsdale, Arizona, September 24-27, 2023.

Competition Judge, José Carranza stated, “The candidate evaluation process was not an easy task due to the caliber of the candidates. With great satisfaction, we have evaluated candidates with a high academic level, experience, and skills to successfully address the challenges currently presented by the Cold Storage industry.”
