Hultsteins and Courage Technologies Form Green Energy Partnership

Hultsteins, a UK/Sweden-based producer of onboard electrical generation systems, has partnered with Courage Technologies, a Spanish electric fridge manufacturer, to provide sales and aftersales services in the UK, Ireland, and Sweden.

Courage Technologies, located in Sagunto-Valencia, Spain, specializes in designing and producing all-electric refrigeration systems for urban and 'last-mile' logistics. These systems are suitable for vans and box bodies ranging from 2 to 32 cubic meters and can be configured for both mono and multi-temperature needs. They feature high-powered 24V or 48V lithium batteries integrated into the fridge housing.

These systems, fully ATP tested, can operate at full speed for 6 to 8 hours on a single charge. Optional lightweight solar panels on the box roof can extend their autonomy. This makes them ideal for battery electric vehicle (BEV) vans and 7.5t-14t trucks as they do not affect the vehicle's driving range. They can also be fitted to diesel vehicles and combined with the Courage ‘Move on loading system’ to ensure continuous power, even for demanding multidrop operations.

The partnership aims to address the growing environmental regulations by offering a solution with zero emissions and virtually silent operation. The electric fridges are lighter and have fewer moving parts compared to conventional diesel systems, resulting in lower maintenance and significant cost savings for operators.

Hultsteins' long experience and proven success in sustainable transport refrigeration underscore their capability to bring Courage Technologies' fully electric refrigeration solutions to the market. A 27 cubic metre demonstration unit, fitted with a Courage CT5 MT dual temperature fridge and a 20.5KW 48V battery, is available for viewing at Hultsteins’ production facility in Biggleswade.
