Lineage Acquires Permanor AS to Expand Cold Storage Network in Norway

Acquisition adds 24,500 pallet positions and solar-powered capacity in Haugesund and Brumunddal.

Lineage, Inc. has completed the acquisition of Permanor AS, a Norwegian cold storage and logistics provider, enhancing its capabilities in the Nordic region’s food supply chain. The transaction includes Permanor’s sites in Haugesund and Brumunddal, strategically located to serve Norway’s meat and food industries with a focus on energy efficiency.

Permanor offers freezing, thawing, storage, and distribution services, mainly for the meat sector, as well as baked goods and general food products. The Haugesund facility, expanded in 2018, is located near major ports in Stavanger, Haugesund, and Bergen. The Brumunddal site, just north of Oslo, acts as a key logistics hub. Combined, the two locations cover over 10,000 m² (approx. 107,600 ft²) and provide around 24,500 pallet positions.

The Haugesund facility features over 880 installed solar panels, contributing to energy efficiency and supporting Lineage’s commitment to sustainable operations. The acquisition aligns with Lineage’s strategy to expand its global cold chain infrastructure while prioritizing operational responsibility and innovation.

“Permanor AS’s expertise and strategic locations make it a perfect fit for Lineage as we continue to strengthen our presence in Norway and the broader Nordic region,” said Sean Vanderelzen, President of Europe at Lineage. “This acquisition allows us to better serve our customers with end-to-end cold chain solutions while reinforcing our commitment to responsible operations and operational excellence.”

Hege Skogland Mokleiv, CEO of Permanor, stated: “We’re excited to become part of a bigger family, a family where everyone works together to make our industry greater, more efficient, more sustainable, and more flexible to meet customer needs and changing environments. We found that in Lineage.”

Lineage collaborated with Seven Lakes Partners as financial advisors during the acquisition process, further underscoring its strategy of expanding through targeted investments across Europe.
