LKV chose the all-electric Thermo King’s E-200 refrigeration units

Thermo King announced that Landeskontrollverband Weser-Ems e.V., (LKV) chose the all-electric Thermo King’s E-200 refrigeration units to safely transport the temperature sensitive raw milk samples across the Weser-Ems area in Germany. LKV is responsible for testing milk samples on behalf of regional agricultural and dairy companies and has recently upgraded its transport fleet with new vans featuring Thermo King’s E-200 units.

Every month, the LKV laboratory experts test around 330,000 dairy samples resulting from its inspections. The LKV’s fleet managing this task consists of five Thermo King refrigerated vehicles, and every one of them travels an average of 100,000 kilometers per year.

“While only the dairy samples need to maintain cooled and transported at 4 degrees Celsius, the temperature-controlled vans also help us transport the preserved milk samples,” said Johann Bartels, logistics manager at Weser-Ems milk laboratory. “We need to be as flexible as possible with our operations and our fleet’s performance and reliability are key. Therefore, we decided to equip all our vehicles with the Thermo King refrigeration systems.”

Unlike typical direct drive refrigeration units designed for diesel combustion engines, E-200 delivers constant capacity independently from the vehicles’ engines and associated moving parts. With no road compressor or drive kit, the E-200’s performance is no longer dependent on the vehicle engine, offering LKV the benefit of increased uptime and longer maintenance intervals. The unit is also compatible with vehicle’s start-stop features contributing to additional fuel savings.

“We are working closely with customers in the food and beverage industry so that our refrigeration systems meet their highest quality standards for reliable temperature control and performance,” said Eneko Fernandez, product leader at Thermo King. “We are pleased that our solutions can help our partners like the LKV in Germany to enhance the flexibility and efficiency of their operations. We will continue to collaborate with the industry and support their business with innovations and solutions that can make their fleets more and more sustainable and efficient.”
