Maersk opens new logistics depot in Manzanillo, Mexico

A.P. Moller – Maersk has inaugurated a new logistics depot in Manzanillo, Mexico, investing over USD 15 million to enhance cargo flow efficiency and strengthen its supply chain infrastructure in the Americas.

Located 5 km from Manzanillo Port, which handles nearly half of Mexico’s containerized cargo, the 31,000 m² facility is designed to reduce first- and last-mile bottlenecks and improve connectivity to Mexico’s industrial hubs, including the Bajio and central corridor.

The depot has a capacity of 6,018 TEUs and features 50 reefer plugs, 60 repair positions, and the ability to handle dry cargo, refrigerated units, gensets, and 53’ boxes. Services include shunting to reduce truck idling and terminal congestion, transloading for dry and refrigerated goods, container management, and maintenance and repair of equipment.

“With this new facility in Manzanillo, we’re creating agility where it matters most—reducing logistics costs, accelerating transit times, and giving businesses better control over their cargo,” said Getulio Centanaro Patino, Head of Logistics and Services for Maersk in Mexico.

Maersk currently operates over 59,000 m² of warehousing in Mexico City and Tijuana, and 250,000 m² of depot capacity across Cuautitlán, Lázaro Cárdenas, and Manzanillo. The company also runs air logistics hubs in Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara, with further expansion planned in Guadalajara and Monterrey.
