Multiboxx and Hubbard Products launch Single-Phase Mini-Reefer range

Multiboxx B.V. (Netherlands) and Hubbard Products Ltd (UK), part of the Daikin Group, have jointly introduced a new range of Single-Phase Mini-Reefer containers designed for small to medium-sized businesses in the domestic rental market. The new units address the growing demand for compact, energy-efficient cold storage solutions without the need for Three-Phase power connections.

Traditional refrigerated containers for domestic use often employ marine-grade Three-Phase refrigeration systems, which are oversized for many applications. According to Niall McDermott, Technical Director at Multiboxx, this creates unnecessary energy consumption and noise, particularly when used in smaller 10ft containers or for modest cooling needs, such as ice cream or beverage storage during short-term events.

The newly launched Mini-Reefers are equipped with a custom-developed Slimline-Monoblock system by Hubbard/Daikin, offering a temperature range of -25°C to +5°C. These units operate on Single-Phase power and use a refrigerant with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) below 150, in compliance with current environmental regulations.

Unlike off-the-shelf chiller adaptations, the Mini-Reefers are purpose-built with integrated systems that eliminate the need for generator rental. This reduces both operational noise and carbon emissions, making the units suitable for use in noise-sensitive urban environments.

The Slimline-Monoblock is positioned in the left door frame, allowing easy placement on compact sites and improved internal airflow. All models come standard with Multiboxx’s patented Strut Panel framework for secure shelving installation. The range includes 8ft and 10ft models.

The new Mini-Reefers were showcased at Intermodal Europe 2025 in Barcelona, where over 100 pre-orders were recorded.
