NewCold tests electric refrigerated truck in India

NewCold has completed an electric refrigerated truck trial in India for a leading FMCG customer, as demand for low-emission logistics solutions grows in the market. The company said the vehicle maintained temperature integrity and reliability throughout the route, showing that electric refrigerated transport is already viable in current operations.

According to NewCold, the trial reflects a broader shift among customers in India, particularly in urban distribution, where companies are seeking to integrate sustainable alternatives into long-term logistics strategies. The company said it works with customers to test solutions against operational requirements, evaluate performance jointly and define pathways for scaling.

NewCold also said it is working with customers and industry partners to accelerate the use of green energy sources, including solar, wind and other renewable energy solutions. It said this integrated approach is intended to decarbonise the cold chain and support logistics networks for the future.

“In a recent visit together with the NewCold India management team to key FMCG customers, a consistent theme emerged. There is a clear and growing demand for sustainable transport solutions, especially for inner city distribution and long term contract models,” said Patrick Gillesen, Global Director Transport Strategy at NewCold.

NewCold said its net-zero targets are Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035 and Scope 3 emissions by 2040.
