Petit Forestier Group acquisition of Mendon Leasing

With the acquisition of Mendon Leasing, a New York-based company, Petit Forestier Group has marked a new stage in its development by exporting its refrigerated rental expertise to the US.

After expanding its operations to 17 countries in Europe and Africa, the French family-run company has acquired Mendon, a New York-based professional vehicle rental company.

“Our ambition is to gain a market share in the US, supporting the development of Mendon through experience acquired not only in France but also in countries where we have successfully replicated our full-service model. We will contribute our expertise to this new subsidiary whilst taking the specific features of the US market into consideration,” explains Yves Forestier, CEO of Petit Forestier Group.

Mendon currently has 6 rental sites in the states of New York and New Jersey. Its high-end service strategy ensures a very high contract renewal rate. With 1,600 trucks on fleet, Mendon brings Petit Forestier Group's total fleet to over 52,200 vehicles.

The US rental company's business is divided between refrigerated rental (60%) and “dry” vehicles. This is a global and personalised strategy which reflects the Petit Forestier Group’s offering, renting refrigerated vehicles via its subsidiary Petit Forestier and its multi-services range via its Stricher network.

For the Petit Forestier Group, Mendon is the first stage of its expansion into the US market. “To develop Mendon, we will rely on our shared DNA - family companies with a significant commitment to customer service. But our growth in the US could also lead to further targeted acquisitions. We are market-driven,” Yves Forestier concludes.
