Portugal’s Broliveira adds 70 Thermo King units to expand refrigerated fleet

Broliveira, one of Portugal’s largest international road transport companies, has expanded its fleet with 70 new refrigerated trailers equipped with Thermo King Advancer A400 and A500 Spectrum units. The move strengthens the company’s focus on cold chain reliability for pharmaceutical and food transport.

The new additions are part of Broliveira’s ongoing collaboration with Thermo King Portugal and authorized dealer Frigicoll. The company’s 135-trailer fleet is fully equipped with Thermo King systems, with an average unit age of three years, ensuring up-to-date performance and compliance.

According to Broliveira, the integration of Advancer units has reduced average annual fuel consumption by approximately 15% compared to previous models. The systems feature telematics for real-time monitoring, fuel tracking, and improved temperature control — key to maintaining cargo integrity.

Boaventura Verdasca, CEO of Broliveira, stated: “We work as a team with Thermo King and Frigicoll. Our collaboration rests on three key pillars: Trust, rooted in equipment reliability; Partnership, underpinned by close cooperation; and Sustainability, achieved by adopting latest technologies that reduce fuel consumption and emissions.”

The company ensures consistent performance through comprehensive maintenance contracts and remote monitoring tools. Frigicoll supports the fleet with dedicated service and training, contributing to reliability and operational continuity.

“By introducing new equipment and modernising our fleet, we achieved significant reductions in CO₂ emissions and fuel consumption. As Broliveira expands in pharmaceutical and food logistics, our partnership with Thermo King remains at the core of our strategy,” added Verdasca.
