RTR Increases Trailers’ Fuel Efficiency with Thermo King Advancer Units

Market leading fuel efficiency, performance and lower CO2 footprint convinced Refrigerated Trailer Rentals Holland (RTR) to upgrade their refrigerated trailer fleet with 100 Advancer A-Series units from Thermo King. To offer their customers additional cargo protection and maximise their uptime, RTR also opted for ThermoKare 24/7 Fleet Monitoring, the new around-the-clock, real-time monitoring and remote diagnosis service.

RTR is headquartered in the Netherlands and offers short and long-term rental of fully specked refrigerated trailers to customers in Benelux, Germany and the United Kingdom. They decided to add Thermo King Advancers to their fleet after comparing the units with alternative refrigeration systems. The comparison proved the A-Series brings significant increase in fuel and operational efficiency. By adding the ThermoKare 24/7 Fleet Monitoring, RTR wants to give their customers the peace of mind that the environment in which their temperature sensitive cargo is transported, is constantly monitored, and taken care of by the industry experts.

“Staying close with our customers, we know well that the cost of fuel impacts every transporter’s operations. We designed Advancer to address this and redefine the fuel efficiency of trailer refrigeration reaching up to 30% better fuel efficiency and up to 40% quicker pull down than the market average,” said Alain van Schaik, key strategic account manager at Thermo King. “They are also the first units on the market that to give complete transparency of fuel levels and fuel consumption. The fuel consumption data are recorded, displayed, and made available remotely via telematics.”

“With the new ThermoKare 24/7 Fleet Monitoring we leverage our units’ two-way communication capabilities and pair the real time data analytics with Thermo King experts, who monitor and actively help operators if a problem arises. This is more than just an alarm that notifies the fleet manager about a problem with the cargo. We’ve combined the technology, knowledge, and service infrastructure to take this burden of their shoulders and back them up throughout every step of their cargo’s journey,” concluded Alain van Schaik.

As part of the ThermoKare 24/7 Fleet Monitoring, in case of a temperature deviation or problem with the refrigeration unit, the Thermo King team immediately responds and takes actions to resolve the issue remotely. In case the problem couldn’t be resolved remotely and requires an immediate attention from the customer, the customer receives immediate notification of the event including the expert analysis, recommendation for next steps and directions to the nearest Thermo King service dealership that can provide the solution.

The key features and customer benefits of the ThermoKare 24/7 Fleet Monitoring service are:

  • Real time monitoring, remote diagnosis and expert support for prevention of cargo loss

  • Remote problem resolution via TracKing two-way communication for maximised uptime

  • Weekly fleet report and access to the TracKing website for all data records

  • Extensive 24/7 coverage with over 500 authorized service points in 75 countries for on-time corrective actions in case a technician intervention in required.
