Schmitz Cargobull has renewed its Good Distribution Practice (GDP) certification for the TrailerConnect telematics system, ensuring continued support for pharmaceutical customers with certified vehicles delivered ex works. TÜV Süd confirmed the recertification following a comprehensive audit.
"TrailerConnect’s certification enables our customers to present an important certificate for GDP audits in temperature-controlled transport, confirming that our products meet high standards of safety, security and quality," said Marnix Lannoije, Chief Development Officer at Schmitz Cargobull AG. "Thanks to our GDP certificate, customers can guarantee and document full process reliability across the entire process chain; from data recording in the trailer, and data storage and visualisation in the portal, through to the forwarding of data via the API."
The GDP guidelines, established by the European Commission in 2013, set strict standards for the transport of medicinal products, aiming to ensure quality assurance and protect against counterfeit medicines. Certification criteria are reassessed every two years, and pharmaceutical supply chain participants are subject to annual audits.
During the TÜV Süd audit, detailed inspections were carried out across multiple areas, including interface descriptions, data storage and protection, risk analysis in software development, software updates, data backup, organisational processes, sensor specifications, and the company’s quality management system under ISO 9001 standards.
Schmitz Cargobull holds an official GDP certificate with a test and accreditation number issued by TÜV Süd. Customers can request a copy of the GDP audit certificate directly from Schmitz Cargobull.
