First two refrigerated semi-trailers delivered as part of 166-unit fleet upgrade.
Tevex Logistics GmbH has received the first two units from a 166-trailer order placed with Schmitz Cargobull, marking a significant step toward decarbonizing its refrigerated transport fleet. The delivery includes an all-electric S.KOe COOL semi-trailer and an S.KO COOL model featuring the S.CU d80 cooling unit equipped with an ePTO (electric power take-off) interface. The full order was confirmed during the IAA trade fair in 2024.
The S.KOe COOL box body semi-trailer includes a high-voltage battery system (32 kWh), power electronics, and an electric generator axle. This setup allows for emission-free operation with up to 18 hours of autonomous cooling, depending on use. Energy recuperation occurs during braking and certain speed intervals, while recharging via the grid takes about two hours using a CEE three-phase connection.
The S.CU d80 ePTO ready unit on the S.KO COOL can operate fully electric when connected to an e-truck's battery system via ePTO. It also includes a diesel generator as a backup power source, with automatic switching between energy modes. This dual-power design offers operational reliability and flexibility for mixed fleets without requiring a high-voltage battery or electric axle, which helps reduce investment costs.
"With these two innovations in energy supply, we are enhancing our cutting-edge fleet and making huge strides towards decarbonisation," said Dirk Mutlak, Managing Director of Tevex Logistics. "With Schmitz Cargobull refrigerated vehicles, we can achieve considerable CO2 savings thanks to the outstanding k-value."
Andreas Schmitz, CEO of Schmitz Cargobull AG, emphasized the partnership’s sustainability goals: "With the box body semi-trailers delivered today, we are once again raising the bar for economically efficient and sustainable temperature-controlled transport. Our new S.CU d80 cooling unit with an ePTO interface offers maximum flexibility."
Tevex Logistics, based in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany, specializes in ultra-fresh, long-distance, and container transport, with a focus on reducing environmental impact. The full fleet upgrade will support its mission to deliver reliable, low-emission logistics solutions across Europe.
