Thermo King Expands Telematics Offering with TracKing Smart Trailer System

Thermo King, a brand of Trane Technologies specializing in sustainable transport temperature control solutions, has introduced the TracKing Smart Trailer telematics system. This new solution enhances its telematics portfolio by providing comprehensive visibility into trailer health and cargo operations, complementing the existing TracKing Pro telematics platform. The combined offering enables fleet operators to monitor and manage trailers, cargo, and refrigeration units through a single, integrated system.

The TracKing Smart Trailer telematics system addresses the challenges fleet managers face, including regulatory compliance and rising fuel costs. It provides actionable insights that improve operational efficiency, reduce risks, and minimize unplanned maintenance. The system delivers real-time visibility into critical trailer components such as tire pressure, brake health, door position, lights, and axle weight, helping fleet managers make smarter decisions while increasing trailer uptime.

The platform supports Thermo King’s sustainability goals and Trane Technologies’ 2030 Sustainability Commitment, which aims to reduce customer carbon footprints by one gigaton by 2030. By minimizing idling, optimizing tire performance, and promoting proactive maintenance, TracKing Smart Trailer telematics helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

Key features of the platform include:

  • Operational Efficiency: The system provides a dashboard with remote monitoring, diagnostics, and real-time alerts on trailer components. Advanced GPS tracking offers route history and live trip monitoring, while multiple wireless sensors monitor cargo temperature with an accuracy of +/- 0.9°F. Integrated cameras provide visibility inside the trailer and capture door events.
  • Enhanced Monitoring: Safety-focused features such as an anti-lock brake system (ABS) health monitor, trailer backing camera, and door position sensors help reduce accident risks. The system supports video recording and playback from rear and interior cargo cameras.
  • Increased Uptime: Predictive maintenance tools monitor key components like tire pressure, brake health, and temperature, reducing unplanned stops by identifying maintenance needs early.
  • Regulatory Compliance: The system helps fleets meet regulatory requirements with lights-out detection, brake monitoring, and weight monitoring to avoid fines and maintain fleet safety scores.

When combined with Thermo King’s existing TracKing Pro refrigeration telematics, TracKing Smart Trailer telematics provides a complete solution for monitoring cargo and trailer components, offering full operational control and seamless fleet management. The platform’s advanced analytics and sensor technology allow fleet managers to streamline operations and reduce costs while supporting sustainability goals.
