TOWER Cold Chain Solutions announces strategic partnership in South Africa

TOWER Cold Chain Solutions, suppliers of the KryoTrans range of passive thermal containers, has extended its global reach by partnering with ZacPak. This partnership greatly enhances both TOWER’s service provision to the African market and its global network with full service-centre operation in Cape Town and Johannesburg with further hub support in Port Elizabeth and an additional depot in Durban.

Investment by TOWER globally has been driven by the increasing adoption of passive reusable packaging solutions and increasing demand from the pharmaceutical cold-chain market, including the African life-science market. Niall Balfour, TOWER’s Managing Director commented “Our clients expect cost-effectiveness coupled with operational flexibility, but important to their supply chain is the unrivalled ease-of-use of the KT and KTM ranges, minimising intervention and thus human-error. As we enhance our global network I’m delighted that Sean Petzer has joined TOWER on a permanent basis to head up our sub-Saharan African operation: he will bring a valuable new dimension to the global element, together with crucial in-market expertise.

Sean Petzer, Regional Manager, TOWER South Africa added “It’s clear that this region is in need of a more user- and budget-friendly solution. There are currently too many solutions offering limited performance capabilities or a “take it or leave it” approach to cost. The KryoTrans range, supported by the TOWER rental network, now provides an answer to this and covers both international air freight movement of pharma products into SA as well as local and over-border distribution.” Over the last nine months TOWER SA has been engaging with a number of key players in the African pharmaceutical market which included specific trials with major exporters and 4PLs. Sean added.“We have proof of concept in Africa now and with the hub setup we can provide customised temperature packaging solutions for the international and regional movement of critical pharmaceutical products”.

Flexible rental of the KryoTrans range provides
  • Robust, passive reusable temperature-controlled solution
  • Up to 10 days’ product protection
  • Cost-effective rental programme
  • Global reach with an expanding network
  • Ease-of-use with minimal human intervention
  • Pre-conditioning for multiple temperature ranges: controlled room temperature (+15°C to +25°C); refrigerated (+2°C to +8°C) and frozen (-15°C to -25°C)
