Trailer Dynamics and Thermo King join forces to accelerate electrification across the Commercial Transport industry

Strategic collaboration enables the commercialization of an electrified trailer solution which will advance decarbonization across European transport and logistics sector.

Trailer Dynamics, a technology innovator of eTrailers, has announced that Trane Technologies and its brand Thermo King, has become a strategic minority investor and cooperation partner of Trailer Dynamics, alongside German trailer manufacturer Krone. The alliance will drive innovations that enhance efficiency and accelerate the transition to zero-emission transportation in Europe and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The eTrailer provides supporting propulsion which allows significant diesel and CO₂ emission reduction when combined with traditional internal combustion tractors, extends the driving range when combined with an electric powered tractor, and has the capability to power electrified or traditional trailer refrigeration units (TRUs).

Thermo King will provide its industry expertise on electrification and transport refrigeration solutions. The collaboration will enable integration of technologies to revolutionize the industry, providing enhanced logistics capabilities for trade, industry, and freight forwarders, hauling fresh and frozen goods.

Abdullah Jaber, managing director and CEO of Trailer Dynamics, is excited about the partnership. “We look forward to combining our eTrailer technology and experience with Thermo King’s industry-leading knowledge to create outstanding products together and accelerate Europe’s transition to zero-emission transportation.”

By incorporating Trailer Dynamics’ innovative technology, Thermo King will enhance its advanced innovation capability and product portfolio, reinforce its sustainability commitments, drive positive change within the industry, and support customer and regulatory demands.

“We are excited to join forces with Trailer Dynamics and invest together in cutting-edge electrified trailer technology that will help accelerate decarbonization efforts within the commercial transport industry and cold chain,” said Claudio Zanframundo, president Thermo King EMEA. “We are proud of our bold actions and commitments to the adoption of new technologies and collaborating with other technological pioneers will speed our impact.”

Dr. Stefan Binnewies, Chairman of Trailer Dynamics’ Advisory Board supplemented, “The decarbonization of road freight transport can only succeed fast with strong partnerships. With Trane Technologies as a new strategic shareholder in Trailer Dynamics alongside Krone, the necessary transformation will be significantly accelerated.”
