GEA has introduced the GEA Omni NG, its next-generation control panel for heating and refrigeration systems. The new panel adds cybersecurity, scalability and digital connectivity features and is designed for industrial environments.
The GEA Omni NG replaces the previous IPC with a Wi-Fi-enabled GEA G-Plex electronic module and a separate touchscreen monitor. Operators, contractors and plant managers can connect using devices such as tablets and mobile phones for remote monitoring, troubleshooting and access to historical data. The operating system has also changed from Windows to Linux, while backward compatibility with the previous GEA Omni is maintained.
The control panel provides access to real-time data for managing and tracking system performance. It is also GEA Cloud ready, enabling digital solutions that monitor equipment and provide information on system performance, energy use and maintenance needs.
GEA says the Omni NG is on track for compliance with EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230, the Cyber Resilience Act, the Network and Information Systems (NIS 2) Directive and NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0. According to the company, compliance with these frameworks helps prevent unauthorized access to programmable logic controllers and protect critical plant operations.
GEA introduced the original Omni control panel in 2014 and says tens of thousands of units have since been sold worldwide. The company develops the Omni NG using direct user feedback alongside factory experience and testing.
