Nominations have opened for the J&E Hall Gold Medal as the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump sector award marks its 50th anniversary. Organised by the IOR, the award recognises noteworthy practical contributions to innovation in refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump technology.
The £5,000 award is open to individuals or teams responsible for recent practical technological advancements. Eligible work includes practical applications of innovative designs; RACHP installations, developments and technologies making an original contribution; and systems with substantial potential supported by evidence that they will be completed successfully.
Nominations can also recognise outstanding and significant work in a new or unusual area of design and installation. Over the past five decades, recipients have included refrigeration industry figures such as Gustav Lorentzen.
Nominations are open until 23 October 2026, with the nomination form available on the IOR website.
The winner will be announced at the IOR Annual Dinner on 25 February 2027 at the Hilton London Bankside in London.
