125 Years of Schmitz Cargobull

In 1892, the blacksmith Heinrich Schmitz founded in Altenberg, near Munster, an enterprise that, 125 years later, grew into the leading European manufacturer of semi-trailers, trailers and body superstructures for general cargo, bulk materials, as well as freight, requiring a certain temperature regime. 125 years after its foundation, Schmitz Cargobull has six factories in Germany, as well as factories in Spain, Lithuania, Russia, China and Turkey. 5700 employees of the concern in the fiscal year 2016-2017 produced more than 57,000 vehicles and reached a turnover of more than 2 billion euros. The main office of Schmitz Cargobull is located in Horstmara, in the district of Muensterland. Schmitz Cargobull's plans for the future are related to international coverage, further innovations in the development of vehicles, maintaining a leading position and flexibility in production and customer relations. On April 1, 2017, Schmitz Cargobull put into operation a new plant in the Turkish city of Adapazari, where it produces semi-trailers and isothermal semi-trailers. Installation is carried out on modern production equipment based on prefabricated modules. Another installation line is planned for tipper semi-trailers. There are also high quality standards of the proven product lines of Schmitz Cargobull. The last step to expand coverage on the international market is to acquire a stake in the South African manufacturing company GRW. Read More
