Swedish energy company 1KOMMA5°, part of the German 1KOMMA5° Group, and heat pump manufacturer Qvantum have announced a partnership to integrate intelligent heating systems into residential energy networks in Sweden.
As part of the collaboration, Qvantum’s heat pumps will be connected for the first time to 1KOMMA5°’s Heartbeat AI — an energy automation and optimization platform that manages distributed energy assets in real time based on weather conditions, electricity prices, and grid signals. This integration turns heating into an active part of the home’s total energy system, rather than a standalone function.
The system allows heat pumps to dynamically respond to electricity tariffs, grid constraints, and local renewable energy production. Used together with rooftop solar, battery storage, and EV chargers, Qvantum heat pumps coordinated through Heartbeat AI enable homeowners to use energy when it is most affordable, clean, and abundant.
The initial focus of the partnership is Sweden, where approximately 60% of residential homes already use heat pumps, making it one of the most advanced markets in Europe for electrified heating.
“Heat pumps will play an increasingly central role in the future energy system — not just as sources of heat, but as flexible assets that can support the electricity grid,” said David Sätterman, CEO of 1KOMMA5° Sweden and Denmark. “This partnership allows us to connect all kinds of heat pumps into our virtual power plant – lowering energy costs for homeowners and taking pressure off the grid.”
“Future energy systems require connected, intelligent solutions,” added Fredrik Rosenqvist, CEO of Qvantum. “With the partnership together with 1KOMMA5° we ensure that heating can interact seamlessly with solar power, batteries, EV charging, and the electricity grid.”
The partnership also expands 1KOMMA5°’s heat pump portfolio in Sweden. Through Qvantum’s range of air-to-water, exhaust air, and ground source heat pumps, the company can now offer a full range of heating solutions integrated with Heartbeat AI.
