ABRAVA has appointed Paulo Macedo as its new executive president as the Brazilian heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration sectors face technological changes, new regulatory demands and a stronger focus on industry qualification. The association said the role includes strengthening ABRAVA as a communication and training channel, expanding its membership base and acting as the official voice of the sectors it represents.
Macedo is an engineer with postgraduate studies at FGV and an MBA from IBMEC. According to ABRAVA, he has worked in industrial segments including DuPont, Alcoa and Grupo Industrial João Santos. He said his immediate priority is to understand the association’s structure and needs while working with the board and national departments to support plans already in place.
Macedo said his short-term focus is to identify bottlenecks and optimize internal processes through more automation and redefined roles. In the medium term, he said ABRAVA aims to increase membership, engage more closely with member companies, understand why some are active and others are not, reconnect with former members and attract new companies. In the long term, he said the goal is to contribute to the growth of the sector.
Macedo also linked his engineering background and management training to external issues affecting companies, citing tax reform, technical standards and energy efficiency. He said ABRAVA should continue to act as a technical and institutional communication channel with government, ministries and society on issues including air quality and decarbonization.
“Our support comes in the form of being the official voice of the sector,” Macedo said. He added that the association’s strategic agenda is centered on air quality, decarbonization and food safety, while also seeking more automated processes, clearer functions and stronger representation for member companies in Brazil.
