AFPAC launches CEPAC heat pump expertise center

AFPAC launched CEPAC, the Centre of Expertise for Heat Pumps, on March 11 as part of the French government’s heat pump plan. The new organization brings together major stakeholders involved in building decarbonization and is intended to serve as a neutral, pragmatic technical trusted third party to support the large-scale and reliable deployment of heat pumps across France.

CEPAC will operate as a technical support body focused on field needs. Its mission is to produce and share clear guidance, reliable resources and good practices based on verified data, studies and feedback from experience.

The center will cover aerothermal and geothermal heat pump solutions, depending on the suitability of uses and configurations. It will provide operational support to specifiers, installers and operators, complementing AFPAC’s role in representing the sector to public authorities.

CEPAC is backed by a group of founding members: AFPAC, CETIAT, Domofinance, EDF and Uniclima. It also has the support of ADEME and will also include professional organizations representing installers and maintenance companies.

“Our ambition is to sustainably raise the level of quality and credibility of the sector, so that the heat pump is systematically considered, when relevant, as the reference solution,” said François Deroche, President of AFPAC.

CEPAC and its detailed roadmap will be officially presented on May 20 during the 8th edition of the Journée de la PAC in Paris.
