AHRI and the CEBC Sign MOU to Advance Energy Efficiency in the MENA Region

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, & Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) and the Clean Energy Business Council, Ltd. (CEBC) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to further compliance with harmonized energy efficiency policies, codes, and regulations in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The agreement outlines shared goals for both organizations and encourages regional dialogue with stakeholders on building performance, energy conservation, and environmental sustainability.

The two associations will collaborate on several activities, including joint advocacy efforts to accelerate implementation of recognized testing and rating standards. Promoting product certification programs, compliance, and verification mechanisms through the MOU will support the region’s efforts regarding green building codes and exceeding minimum energy performance standards.

“It is a great opportunity to join hands with AHRI and focus on energy efficiency initiatives in line with the regional commitments under COP21, UAE’s Energy Strategy 2050, and several demand-side management and energy strategies by the Emirates of the UAE,” said CEBC Chairman, H.E. Dr. Nasser Saidi.

AHRI President and CEO Stephen Yurek added, “As a leading organization in the development of standards, environmental, and energy guidelines with an emphasis on industry-government cooperation, we are delighted to enter into this partnership with the CEBC and work toward raising the bar of energy efficiency in the MENA region.”
