Aira to invest €300 million and manufacture up to 500,000 heat pumps a year in Poland

Aira Group CEO, Martin Lewerth, Aira Chairman, Harald Mix and Anna Uggla, Chargé d'affaires, Embassy of Sweden, Poland officially inaugurated the new production site.

This is a significant milestone just one year after Aira’s official launch, marking the successful commencement of production of the company’s intelligent heat pumps and demonstrates Aira’s commitment to expanding its operations across the European market.

Aira agreed to acquire the production site from Swedish company Volvo in 2023 and expects to create up to 2000 jobs over the next decade.

Martin Lewerth, Aira Group CEO: “Today, 130 million boilers still heat homes across Europe, which presents a significant market opportunity and more importantly, heat pumps significantly reduce customer heating bills and carbon emissions. Our Polish production site is pivotal for this transformation, and it is great to get started now.”

The factory will have the capacity to produce up to 500,000 heat pumps a year. With Europe's decarbonisation goals, the demand for heat pumps is set to soar. Aira’s ambition is to serve 5 million European homes with clean energy-tech solutions over the coming decade, and the factory in Wroclaw will be instrumental in realising this goal.

Aira has secured a €15 million grant from the Polish government to support the establishment of the Wroclaw site, a testament of the broader conviction in Aira’s business model and in the importance of the company’s mission.

Peter Prem, Chief Product Supply Officer added: “This is a significant moment for Aira and all the teams involved. We’ve rapidly transitioned the site into an Aira production facility and it’s with great pride that we are inaugurating the factory today, a year after our launch. I am particularly proud of all the fantastic people that made this possible in such a short time. We are accelerating the green transition by producing intelligent and beautiful heat pumps at scale here, and this is just the beginning.”
