Underlining a firm commitment to provide the industry with best-practice HVAC&R information and professional development, AIRAH has announced a compelling 2018 conference schedule. Included in the program are the Refrigeration 2018conference to be held in Sydney over March 26–27; the inaugural Resilience Forum, which will take place in Sydney on July 26; the Solar Heating and Cooling Forum, a one-day event to be held in Brisbane on August 9; The Future of HVAC 2018conference to take place in Melbourne over September 12–13; and the Building Physics Forum, set for Wollongong over November 22–23.

With conferences covering an eclectic array of HVAC&R-related subject matter, the 2018 schedule willappeal to the learning needs of our members,as well as the wider HVAC&R industry.”
AIRAH’s 2018 conference schedule kicks off with the two-day Refrigeration 2018 Conference taking place at Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach. Building on the success of Refrigeration 2017, which saw over 140 delegates in attendance, the 2018 conference will continue to expand on the key topics and discussions that were held at the Melbourne conference. The HFCphase-down that began on January 1 will be a key talking point. With resilience becoming such an important area of focus for the HVAC&R industry over the past couple of years, it makes sense for AIRAH to dedicate a one-day forum to this important subject.With this in mind, AIRAH’s first Resilience Forum will take place in Sydney in July. “A resilient built environment is capable of withstanding extreme events while providing shelter and essential services,and can be reasonably returned to normal operation after such events,” Gleeson says.
“AIRAH’s Resilience Forum will explore the critical role of resilient HVAC&R in the built environment.” The Institute’sSolar Heating and Cooling Forum is slated for August 9 in Brisbane. Solar cooling is uniquely suited to Australia because most of the population is located in subtropical or temperate regions. It offers Australia an important opportunity to combat climate change by reducing the significant greenhouse gas emissions generated by the electricity sector in servicing the residential and commercial building sectors. The 2018 forum marks the return of this fixture to the AIRAH events calendar.
Now in its sixth year, AIRAH’s The Future of HVAC 2018 conference will provide insight into the issues, practices, technologies, regulation and design approaches affecting the HVAC industry now and into the future. The Future of HVAC 2018 is scheduled for September 12–13 in Melbourne. Following on from the success of the 2017 iteration, the 2018 Building Physics Forum will continue to explore issues related to air infiltration of the building fabric.The Building Physics Forum will take place on November 22–23 in Wollongong.
