Alfa Laval has completed the acquisition of Fives Energy Cryogenics, the cryogenics business unit of French industrial group Fives. The deal strengthens Alfa Laval’s position in cryogenic heat transfer and pump technologies, expanding its offering in the energy sector.
Fives Energy Cryogenics designs and manufactures equipment for the liquefaction, regasification, and transport of gases such as LNG, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen. The acquisition will enhance Alfa Laval’s capabilities in LNG, hydrogen, and carbon capture applications.
The cryogenic unit, which will become part of Alfa Laval’s Energy Division, has over 65 years of experience and employs more than 700 people. Headquartered in France, it operates manufacturing sites in France, China, and Switzerland. The business reported approximately EUR 200 million in revenue in 2024.
“The acquisition is a strategic milestone for Alfa Laval. By integrating Fives Energy Cryogenics’ cutting-edge cryogenic technology to our portfolio, we are not only extending our technological capabilities but also reinforcing our commitment to driving the energy transition,” said Tom Erixon, CEO and President of Alfa Laval.
Integration of the new business unit will begin immediately.
