Alfa Laval and Sweden’s Lund University have formalized a new strategic partnership aimed at accelerating innovation, strengthening interdisciplinary research, and addressing global sustainability challenges.
The agreement consolidates decades of cooperation between Alfa Laval and various faculties at Lund University, including the School of Economics and Management and the Faculty of Engineering, into a unified alliance. The initiative seeks to enhance collaboration between academic research and industrial application, with a focus on energy transition, digitalization, and sustainability.
Structured around the Triple Helix model, the partnership will engage industry, academia, and the public sector to support strategic development and lifelong learning. Planned initiatives include master theses, climate action hackathons, and mini-credential programmes, involving all faculties and potentially large-scale infrastructure projects.
“This is an important strategic cooperation agreement in which we will work together to develop new technologies for energy transition, digitalization and sustainability,” said Erik Renström, Vice-Chancellor of Lund University.
Alfa Laval and Lund University aim to produce measurable outcomes that support their mutual agendas and the global transition. The partnership will be supported by dedicated resources and a shared governance model to ensure long-term impact.
“By collaborating and viewing global challenges through a joint lens, Alfa Laval and Lund University will strengthen the important interface between academic research and industry application,” said Tom Erixon, CEO and President of Alfa Laval.
