The Arkadia Foodstore supermarket in Malta chose FREOR commercial refrigeration equipment in line with its focus on ensuring a great customer shopping experience. The supermarket was especially keen on the FREOR’s ORION ISLAND freezer, which it decided to make the centerpiece of its frozen product department.
ORION ISLAND is a semi-vertical plug-in freezer cabinet that is an excellent medium-height display solution for frozen products. The freezer island operates on environmentally friendly propane gas (R290) refrigerant, ensuring perfect cooling and reduced energy consumption.
With 3 or 4 food display levels, ORION ISLAND offers flexibility for merchandise presentation and uses valuable floor space much better than a chest freezer. Its medium height and frameless glass doors provide outstanding product visibility and easy access for a pleasant shopping experience.
Additional FREOR cooling equipment throughout the store
To complete its frozen product department and optimally use that space, the Arkadia supermarket picked ERIDA upright freezer to place by the wall. Its large glass panels offer an amazingly clear view of products at the customer eye level, even from a distance.
For the fresh product display, the supermarket went with FREOR JUPITER multidecks with glass doors and an opened version with a front glass packet for fruits and vegetables. All FREOR’s JUPITER multideck models incorporate a dual air curtain as standard. That feature brings substantial energy savings and eliminates the uncomfortable chill that shoppers often experience in the refrigerated departments of supermarkets.
FREOR also implemented PLUTON SPACE semi vertical, with a wide and comfortable product reach, and VEGA SPACE QB HG serve-overs.
FREOR’s efficient Hydroloop Glycol cooling solution
The Arkadia Foodstore operates all of this refrigeration equipment on a Hydroloop Glycol cooling system from FREOR, which uses a very small quantity of environment-friendly, energy-efficient R290 refrigerant. The system does not require a separate machinery room, thus saving even more space in the store.
Since refrigeration equipment on a Hydroloop Glycol system operates independently, any failure of one unit does not affect other equipment, minimizing the potential loss of products. And there is no need to close the store to replace or add new equipment – again ensuring an uninterrupted shopping experience at the Arkadia supermarket.
The Arkadia Foodstore project was carried out with FREOR’s reliable partner in the country – Angelo Aquilina Refrigeration Supplies, who has always been at the forefront of the refrigeration sector in Malta.
