ASHRAE Announces Call For Papers For International Conference On Efficient Building Design

ASHRAE has announced a call for papers for its Third International Conference on Efficient Building Design, Oct. 3-4, 2018 in Beirut, Lebanon. The conference, organized by ASHRAE, the ASHRAE Lebanese Chapter, the Munib and Angela Masri Institute of Energy and Natural Resources and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at American University of Beirut will include several keynote presentations from experts and professionals in the field. In addition to specialized and organized sessions there will be oral and poster presentations. “This conference offers the latest advanced building and bioclimatic designs to specifically adapt to moderate and hot humid climates in the gulf region,” says Nesreen Ghaddar, conference chair. “We are particularly interested in sharing the latest developments on energy efficiency standards, and building codes, including new refrigerants that are adapted to the warmer climates.” Topics include but are not limited to:
  • Sustainable building designs
  • Energy efficiency standards
  • Building materials
  • Indoor air quality systems
  • HVAC technologies
  • Solar heating and cooling for built environment
  • Energy efficient hybrid systems
  • Low and near zero energy buildings
Conference organizers are specifically interested papers on design, systems, and control strategies of low energy and near zero energy buildings, as well as prospects for next-generation sustainable HVAC systems that are dependent on renewable energy sources. A call for abstracts (400 words in length) is now open. Abstracts are due Oct. 15, 2017. If accepted, papers are due Feb. 15, 2018. The papers will undergo a peer-review conducted by ASHRAE and overseen by a scientific committee. Authors of accepted papers are responsible for travel and registration.
