Automated Logic Partners with Laurel Institutes to Train Next-Gen HVAC Technicians

Partnership integrates building automation systems into campuses across three U.S. states

Automated Logic, part of Carrier Global Corporation, has partnered with the Laurel Institutes to prepare students for careers in HVAC and building automation. As part of Carrier’s broader TechVantage Initiative, the collaboration will provide students with hands-on experience using Automated Logic’s control systems while modernizing Laurel’s campuses in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and South Carolina.

Laurel schools will be outfitted with Automated Logic systems to manage HVAC, electrical, and other mechanical operations efficiently. The initiative includes direct training from Automated Logic experts, field trips to ALC facilities, and exclusive job opportunities for Laurel students. Carrier’s TechVantage Initiative aims to recruit 1,000 new service technicians and upskill over 100,000 professionals across its U.S. network within five years.

Founded in 1985, the Laurel Institutes—including Laurel College of Technology, Laurel Business Institute, and Laurel Technical Institute—focus on small class sizes and industry-specific training. The partnership reflects Carrier’s strategy to build a skilled workforce aligned with the demands of intelligent, energy-efficient building systems.

“The cutting-edge technology that Automated Logic will be equipping our schools, teachers and students with will allow our graduates to be among the most well-prepared automation graduates not only in this region, but throughout the country,” said Douglas Decker, Chief Operating Officer of Laurel Institutes.

“With the Automated Logic – Laurel partnership, students can go from their campus to anywhere in the world with the global reach of Carrier and Automated Logic,” said Andy Bierer, Managing Director, Automated Logic Field.

The integration of real-world technologies into Laurel’s curriculum is intended to align technical education with industry needs as HVACR systems grow more complex and sustainability-focused.
