Azenta Life Sciences Revolutionizes Biostorage with BioArc Ultra

In a significant leap forward for biobanking and automated biostorage, Azenta Life Sciences has launched the BioArc Ultra -80°C Automated Sample Storage System. This system, powered by eco-friendly air cycle refrigeration from MIRAI Intex and engineered by Refolution, offers sustainable, high-density storage crucial for biotech research and pharmaceutical development.

The BioArc Ultra combines MIRAI's advanced air cycle refrigeration technology with Azenta's leading automated sample storage systems. This integration results in a system designed for precise temperature control, energy efficiency, and space optimization.

In the life sciences domain, ultra-cold storage of samples is essential for medical research and treatment development. Traditional freezers often face issues with energy inefficiency, sample security, and temperature stability. The BioArc Ultra addresses these challenges, featuring zero global warming potential and reducing the Total Equivalent Warming Impact (TEWI) by up to 79%.

The new refrigeration system from MIRAI Intex uses air recirculation to cool, minimizing energy use and negating the need for chemical refrigerants. This technology allows the Ultra to use up to 77% less power than manual storage solutions and maintains stable temperatures vital for sensitive samples.

The groundbreaking BioArc Ultra showcases the synergy of sustainable refrigeration, automation, and systems integration. Refolution, based in Karlsruhe, Germany, played a crucial role in merging MIRAI's air-cooling system with Azenta's storage technology, managing heat load calculations, air distribution, and enclosure design improvements.

Azenta's BioArc Ultra sets a new industry standard in sustainable biostorage, offering unmatched efficiency and reliability to meet the growing demands of the life sciences sector.
