BEAMA and the Heat Pump Association (HPA) have launched a comprehensive guide for heating control of air water heat pump systems. This initiative was developed by a team of technical experts from the heat pump and controls manufacturing sectors to address frequent enquiries regarding the interpretation of Approved Document Part L of the Building Regulations for single-zone and multi-zone systems.
The guide aims to clarify compliance requirements, aligning them with the legal text and guidance outlined by Building Regulations. Both BEAMA and HPA engaged with the Building Safety Regulator during the guide’s development to ensure the guidance remains faithful to regulatory intentions.
The guide, available on the organisations'
websites, provides installers and system designers with valuable example schematics and key considerations for compliance with Building Regulations and best practices in heat pump systems. Future updates, including a 2025 annex on underfloor heating controls, are planned as part of ongoing collaborations between BEAMA and HPA.
