Beijer Ref behind first ever green refrigerating system at retail giant Metro in China

The installation opens for an expanded market in China.

As China is rapidly accelerating its HCFC and HFC phase-down, Beijer Ref’s subsidiary SCM Frigo has been selected by German retail giant Metro AG as supplier of its first CO2 transcritical system in the Beijing wholesale store later this year. The installation sets a huge milestone in the area of CO2 emissions in China.

“A successful installation could expand the market in China rapidly as it will lead to more foreign companies feeling confident to use CO2 as a refrigerant,” said Per Bertland, CEO of Beijer Ref. Metro AG has previously communicated its aim to phase out F-gases in stores worldwide by 95% by 2030. “We are proud to be selected as partner to Metro – a retail chain with significant size and influence on the market – in its strive implement eco-friendly refrigerants. We work continuously to be able to offer the most efficient and green alternatives, and look forward to the installation taking place later this year”, concludes Per Bertland.
