Beijing’s first transcritical CO2 supermarket at ATMOsphere China

The first ATMOsphere event in China was held on 11 and 12 April in Beijing. Defined by the organisers as “truly a bridge for Chinese businesses and the global market for natural refrigerants”, this ATMO event provided a platform for discussing the opportunities for using natural refrigerants, based on real experiences and success stories. CAREL was one of the leading players at the event, presenting the project for the first transcritical CO2 supermarket in Beijing. A project that involved collaboration between several Italian and Chinese companies to bring technology that is now quite widespread in Europe to China for the first time. The installation comprises two transcritical CO2 compressor racks that are completely controlled by Carel systems, including the pRack controller for the racks, electronic expansion valves and the local supervisory system. All aimed at guaranteeing reliability and system efficiency. “CAREL has been committed to developing technologies for the optimal use of natural refrigerants for many years”, commented Eason Cheng, Marketing Manager - Refrigeration, AAPAC. “This is why I am particularly proud to present the recent experience at the Beijing supermarket in a stimulating and international context such as ATMO”.
