Big Ass Fans and Lexmark Introduce IoT-Powered Comfort Ecosystem

Big Ass Fans, in collaboration with Lexmark, has unveiled CommandSense, an innovative IoT-powered comfort ecosystem designed to enhance worker safety and reduce energy costs in industrial facilities. CommandSense automates environment control by adjusting fans, heaters, and ventilation based on real-time occupancy, humidity, and temperature data.

For 25 years, Big Ass Fans has led the industrial comfort sector, and CommandSense continues this legacy by addressing heat stress, especially after the unprecedented temperatures recorded last summer. The system aims to help facilities comply with new worker safety regulations while focusing on cost-effectiveness and sustainability.

Ken Walma, CEO of Big Ass Fans, emphasized, "CommandSense represents a new era in providing comfort without compromise, advancing worker safety." Powered by Lexmark and Microsoft technology, CommandSense uses a combination of edge computing and advanced sensors, offering customized solutions for facilities of various sizes.

Demetrios Karathanasis of Lexmark expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, "Lexmark's foundational technology helps Big Ass Fans offer comfort without compromise."

CommandSense enhances employee morale and productivity by reducing heat stress by up to 60% and improving productivity by up to 50%. It consumes four times less energy than traditional HVAC systems, saving facilities up to $1 million over five years. The system will be available in April 2025.
