BITZER Celebrates 90 Years of Innovation and Future-Focused Vision

BITZER, a global leader in refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump technology, celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2024. Reflecting on nearly a century of pioneering innovation, BITZER’s anniversary motto, “SHAPING THE FUTURE WITH YOU,” encapsulates its ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, technological advancement, and strong partnerships. This milestone honors BITZER’s rich history of tradition paired with a resolute focus on future solutions to meet industry demands.

Since its inception by Martin Bitzer in 1934, BITZER has expanded from a small workshop in Sindelfingen, Germany, to a global presence with 75 locations in 40 countries. From its first thermostatic expansion valves to high-efficiency compressors, BITZER has been instrumental in developing and optimizing refrigeration technology for commercial and industrial applications worldwide.

Driving Innovation with Tradition

Martin Bitzer’s early innovations set BITZER on a path to revolutionize refrigeration technology, beginning with reciprocating compressors in the 1930s. Over the decades, BITZER has introduced landmark products, including the BITZER Hermeta compressors, EuroScroll scroll compressors, and the environmentally focused ECOLINE and ORBIT ranges. These advancements underscore the company’s commitment to evolving with the times, keeping energy efficiency and environmental impact at the forefront.

A Legacy of Leadership and Expansion

In 1961, Ulrich Schaufler took the reins, steering BITZER toward larger-scale production. Under his leadership, BITZER became an industry standard in Europe. His son, Peter Schaufler, continued this expansion, prioritizing the development of compressors compatible with natural refrigerants like CO₂ and ammonia, essential for meeting global sustainability standards. Peter Schaufler’s legacy also includes the establishment of THE SCHAUFLER FOUNDATION and the international training hub, the SCHAUFLER Academy.

A Vision for Sustainable Growth

Sustainability is a core value at BITZER, guiding everything from product development to corporate operations. The company’s portfolio is built on energy-efficient solutions that support global environmental goals. By 2030, BITZER aims to fully offset carbon emissions across its German sites, leveraging renewable energy sources and advanced digital tools to reduce its environmental footprint.

Celebrating with Customers, Partners, and Employees

BITZER’s 90th anniversary serves as both a reflection on the past and a bold look toward the future. With a portfolio that extends beyond compressors, including intelligent electronic components and global service networks, BITZER truly embodies its motto of being #morethanacompressor and #greencompetence. Through personal collaboration, innovative training, and expert support, BITZER is set to continue its mission of building a sustainable future with its customers, partners, and industry professionals for decades to come.
