BoTemp cold batteries

The construction of BoTemp cold batteries is based on the proven Phase Change Material (PCM) technology which has a fixed melting point, also called a eutectic system. This technology uses thermal storage during phase transition. During PCM’s transition from a liquid to a solid state, extra energy is absorbed.

BoTemp has optimized PCM’s properties for various temperatures and applied it to a gel. This gel does not sediment and has a constant storage capacity, even after 20 years of use. While operating, the frozen gel in the cold battery releases cold to the cargo area by absorbing the generated heat.

3 types of cold batteries:

COLD BEAMS

The Cold Beam is a rechargeable cold battery with a predetermined fixed temperature. These custom-developed Beams are made of plastic material and are filled with our patented gel formula. Stainless steel pipes that contain a refrigerant that solidifies the gel when charged, run through the Beams.

During operational use, the Beams radiate cold to the cargo area consistently and evenly. Depending on your preference, the Beams can be installed on either the ceiling or the wall of the cargo area.

When refrigerating sensitive products, precise temperature adjustments are necessary. In this case, an optional thermostat-controlled ventilator can be installed that keeps the cargo area at the set temperature.

Specifications

  • Suitable for a predetermined fixed temperature.
  • Cools from about 0ºC to +5ºC.
  • Freezes from about -25ºC to -18ºC.
  • Other temperatures are available upon request, from -40ºC to +15ºC.
  • During stops, the Beams will keep radiating cold silently. Even on vehicles with a start/stop system, the cold radiation continues uninterrupted when stationary.
  • Suitable for a single temperature, single cargo area or multi-temperature cargo areas (two or more separate cargo areas in a vehicle, each with its own temperature).
  • Suitable for delivery vans, rigid trucks, and containers.

COLD POD

The Cold Pod is a battery with an adjustable temperature in which the Cold Beams are contained in a casing with air ducts. This plug-and-play system can be easily installed on the ceiling or bulkhead of the vehicle, or, alternatively, on top of the vehicle. The Pod contains ventilators and valves that force the cold into the correct compartment of the cargo area. To prevent excess humidity and cold loss in the vehicle, the ventilator turns off as soon as the door to the cargo area is opened.

The main advantage of this system is the adjustability of the temperature.

Specifications

  • Suitable for adjustable temperatures.
  • Cools from about 0ºC to +5ºC.
  • Freezes from about -18ºC to -25ºC.
  • During stops, the Pod will keep radiating cold silently. With start/stop technology, the ventilators will not turn off when standing still, so the cold release is never interrupted.
  • Suitable for a single temperature, single cargo area or multi-temperature cargo areas (two or more separate cargo areas in a vehicle, each with its own temperature), or for cargo areas that vary in temperature.
  • Suitable for small delivery vans, box trucks, and containers.

COLD BOX

This type of cold battery has an adjustable temperature setting and is always mounted outside the cargo area. This very well insulated Cold Box is filled with our patented gel formula. A refrigerant is transported through the gel that solidifies the gel during charging. The gel stores the cold and releases it gradually which makes it possible to maintain the set temperature for several days.

The Cold Box has a wide temperature range that is also adjustable, making it a flexible system. The cargo area can be set at a temperature of -18ºC one day, while the next day it can be set at +4ºC. The cargo area contains an evaporator (in each compartment) that extracts the cold from the Cold Box. A thermostat sets the exact temperature. To prevent excess humidity and cold loss, the evaporator turns off as soon as the doors to the cargo area are opened.

The Cold Box can be produced in any desired shape and is a versatile solution for the distribution of temperature-controlled goods.

Specifications

  • Suitable for adjustable temperatures.
  • Cools from about 0ºC to +5ºC.
  • Freezes from about -25ºC to -18ºC.
  • During stops the Box will keep radiating cold silently. With start/stop technology, the evaporators will not turn off when standing still, so the cold release is never interrupted.
  • This system has a wide temperature range that is also adjustable. Especially suitable for cargo areas that require adjustable temperatures.
