BSRIA has named Paul Greatbatch as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), marking a significant step in the UK organisation’s shift towards digital operations across its research, testing, and consultancy services for the building services and construction industries.
The appointment is part of BSRIA’s strategy to accelerate its technology transformation. Greatbatch will focus on enhancing the company’s market intelligence capabilities, digitising products, and introducing AI-powered technologies to expand and improve BSRIA’s service offerings.
BSRIA stated that the ongoing digitisation will also improve its training programmes, making upskilling more accessible for building services engineers. The development comes amid a critical skills gap in the UK construction sector, with over 140,000 vacancies currently unfilled.
Lisa Ashworth, CEO of BSRIA, said: “Paul's expertise will be instrumental as we accelerate our tech transformation and drive growth across existing and new markets. We're ensuring those in the building services sector can make better decisions to cope with a rapidly changing world.”
Paul Greatbatch added: “What attracted me to BSRIA is the opportunity to make a real impact and develop and shape its product suite. What this is all about is making it easier for people to design, build and maintain better buildings.”
This announcement follows other leadership appointments, including Lisa Wiltshire as Head of Market Intelligence, with a focus on AI tools, data science, skills and Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) solutions. BSRIA also recently opened a new office in Beijing, expanding its international presence.
