Carel has laid cornerstone of the new plant in China

On 16 August, a ceremony was held marking the laying of the cornerstone for the new Carel Group plant in the SND district of Suzhou, China, attended by representatives from the XuGuan area of the Chinese Ministry for Economic Development. The aim of this new plant is to boost production for the Chinese market and the Asia-Pacific region.

Covering an area of 15,000 square metres, the new site will be three times bigger than the current plant, located around three kilometres away. The Carel Group plans to move to the new site starting in the first quarter of 2019. Carel has been operating in China since 2005, when its subsidiary Carel Electronic Suzhou was founded.

During the event, Luciano Marzaro, Managing Director of CAREL Electronic Suzhou, explained Carel’s strategic decision to build a new plant in the Suzhou industrial district: “With consolidated infrastructure and the necessary technological facilities, Suzhou is the ideal place to manufacture and market innovative solutions such as those made at the new Carel plant. The new plant will also highlight our R&D area, the true excellence of CAREL Electronic Suzhou, and that accounts for 24% of the Group’s R&D operations”.

Alberto Catullo, CAREL Regional CEO North APAC, stressed how “the new site will become a hub for the technological skills needed to support Carel’s operations in the APAC region. The construction of this new plant will allow us to develop advanced solutions that completely meet the expectations of customers in China and the rest of Asia.”
